Willey Lane Farm is an 18th Century stone and timber farmhouse located in the Herefordshire countryside in the border country between Lingen, Herefordshire and Presteigne, Powys - see Location or OS Explorer 201, grid reference 3424,6698 (334240,266980). Lingen is a small village with a good community spirit and a pub, The Royal George, which serves food. Presteigne, formerly the county town of Radnorshire, is a small town with a medieval heart and several Pubs and restaurants.
For walkers, we are close to the Lingen Loop of the Mortimer Trail, close to the Herefordshire Trail (Section 5) where it curves round Noisy Hall, near Lingen, and Offa's Dyke passes through the nearby town of Knighton.
The area is steeped in history and there are numerous castles, historic towns and black & white villages within easy reach along generally quiet rural roads. Wigmore castle (associated with the Mortimer family for 400 years), Leominster (antiques), Ludlow (castle, gastronomic delights, etc.), Hay-on-Wye (books), Presteigne (music and arts festivals, vintage car club trail, The Judge's Lodgings, etc.), Builth Wells (the Royal Welsh Show), Weobley (the jewel in the crown of black & white villages) and Leintwardine (which overlays the Roman town of Bravonivm), to name but a few, are within easy driving distance.
For those of a more technological bent the Spaceguard Centre (formerly the Powys Observatory) is only a few miles away overlooking Knighton (the town on the dyke).
We offer bed & breakfast for up to 6 guests in three bedrooms, 2 with double beds and 1 with twin beds - all en suite. Breakfast is served on separate tables in our conservatory.
The price for 2008 is £25 - £29 per person per night. Children aged 8 and over welcomed - see Tariffs.
Willey Lane Farm is a No smoking B & B.
We do not accept pets in the house.
We are graded 4 Stars by Visit Britain (VB), which is indicated by the enjoyEngland.com red rose logo.
We received a Green Business Award and a Gold Wildlife Action Award from Herefordshire Nature Trust in 2005. This has now been superseded by the Green Tourism Business Scheme for which we have a Silver award.
